Am Sonntagmorgen wurde das Feuer des Gesangs- und Tanzfestivals im Park des Estnischen Nationalmuseums in Tartu entzündet. Dies markierte den Beginn einer 18-tägigen Reise des Feuers durch Estland. Das Feuer wird am 2. Juli Tallinn erreichen.
Das Feuer wurde vom künstlerischen Komitee des Festivals zusammen mit Führungspersönlichkeiten entzündet. Im Park wurden eine besondere Eiche und ein Gedenkstein gepflanzt, um dieses Ereignis zu würdigen. Während der Zeremonie traten der Kinderchor der Karlova-Schule, der gemischte Chor der Universität Tartu, die Tanzgruppe Soveldaja sowie die Sänger Andre Maaker und Margo Kõlar auf.
Das Feuer wird nun durch Estland reisen und an Orten von kultureller Bedeutung Halt machen. Diese Reise wird zweieinhalb Wochen dauern.
Margus Toomla, der Direktor der Stiftung des Estnischen Gesangs- und Tanzfestivals, sagte, dass die Reise des Feuers den Beginn des Festivals symbolisiert. Es bringt den Geist des Festivals von Tallinn zu allen in der Nähe.
Die Tradition, das Feuer von Tartu nach Tallinn zu tragen, begann im Jahr 1969. Seit 1990 ist sie Teil der Tradition des Gesangs- und Tanzfestivals. Die Stiftung des Estnischen Gesangs- und Tanzfestivals organisiert diese Reise mit den lokalen Regierungen und dem ESTO-Team.

On Sunday morning, the fire for the Song and Dance Festival was lit in the park of the Estonian National Museum in Tartu. This marked the start of an 18-day journey of the fire across Estonia. The fire will reach Tallinn on July 2.
The fire was lit by the artistic committee of the festival along with leaders. A special oak tree and a memorial stone were planted in the park to remember this event. The fire will now travel across Estonia, stopping at places important to local culture. This journey will last for two and a half weeks.
