Student proves math idea with paper folding

A student from Estonia found a new way to show an old math rule. His name is Karl-Robert Mõttus. He used paper folding (origami) to prove the Pythagorean theorem. This theorem is about triangles and their sides.
Mõttus folded paper to make two similar triangles. He showed that when you add their areas, it equals the area of a bigger triangle. His method is simple. He didn't cut the paper or use hard math.
His teacher Tiina Kraav said this is a very good way. Other ways to prove this were more difficult. Paper folding can be used in many areas like math, engineering, and science.
Mõttus thinks origami helps people understand math better. School students can try this method. Folding paper makes learning math fun and easy.
