Unusual June Flood in Soomaa

Floods in Soomaa in June are not common. June is usually dry and warm. But now, the water is very high. This is the highest water level in 15 years.
Aivar Ruukel, a guide in Soomaa, says: 'I remember 19 years ago, the water was even higher. We swam among the flowers. This is the third or fourth time in my life that there has been a flood in June. The water is warm. Yesterday, we tried swimming here.'
Taaniel Holter, a specialist from the Environmental Agency, says: 'The fifth season in Soomaa is special. Right now, the water is 130 centimeters at the Riisa hydrometric station. We have not seen such a high water level in the last 15 years.'
The floods happened because of heavy rains last week. Holter adds: 'The month is not over yet, but we already have more rain than usual in June.'
Summer floods are smaller than spring floods. But people can still do fun activities. For example, Emmanuel from Austria said he is going canoeing.
