The government agreed on Thursday to reduce car tax for families with children. Each child will give the family a 100 euro discount on car tax. This will start this year.
If both parents have a car, each parent will get a 50 euro discount for each child. If only one parent has a car, they will get the full 100 euro discount.
The Ministry of Finance will prepare the details of this plan during the summer. The plan will go to the parliament in September. The government hopes it will be approved in October, so families can use the discount by the end of the year.
The government also decided to lower the tax for buses and minibuses. This will help people with disabilities and local governments who use these vehicles.
The Prime Minister said the money from the car tax will be used for building roads. The car tax usually brings in 99 million euros each year, but it will be less after the discounts.
